Quality control and process monitoring are essential parts of optical disc manufacturing to ensure that masters, stampers and replicated optical discs fully meet the necessary specifications. Dr. Schenk develops special testing and inspection equipment, both for the in-line quality assurance and process control, as well as for the off-line measurement of all relevant physical properties of optical media, masters, and stampers. Throughout the manufacturing process of prerecorded, recordable, and rewritable media, Dr. Schenk scanners inspect for local defects and irregularities, and measure mechanical and optical characteristics.
